Position Overview

The Director of Development plays a pivotal role in the growth and sustainability of LiveFree OKC by leading its program development and advancement efforts. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive development strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals. This position will oversee donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, grant writing, & reporting—ensuring the financial health and sustainability of LiveFree OKC.

About LiveFree OKC

LiveFree OKC is a community-based 501(c)3 organization with a mission of building peace and reducing violence in Oklahoma City. LiveFree OKC operates a community violence intervention program serving East, Northeast, North, Central, and West Oklahoma City communities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Fundraising and Development:

• Design, implement, and manage a multi-faceted development strategy, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundations, and government grants.

• Lead the organization’s annual fundraising efforts, including developing campaigns, events, and donor outreach.

• Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundations.

2. Grant Writing and Management:

• Oversee the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals to government agencies, foundations, and other philanthropic entities.

• Maintain strong relationships with funding bodies and manage reporting and compliance for awarded grants.

3. Donor Relations and Stewardship:

• Develop and manage the donor stewardship process, ensuring timely, personalized acknowledgment of gifts and ongoing engagement.

• Oversee the development and implementation of communication strategies to maintain relationships with existing donors and cultivate new ones.

4. Marketing and Communications Support:

• Assist in developing marketing and communications strategies to promote LiveFree OKC’s mission and programs to potential donors, stakeholders, and the broader community.

• Oversee the creation of donor-related materials, including newsletters, impact reports, and social media campaigns.

6. Board Engagement:

• Work with the Chief Executive Officer to support the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts, including training and engagement with key fundraising activities.

• Provide regular updates to the Board on fundraising progress, opportunities, and challenges.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

• Preferred Experience:

• Professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related fields, with a proven track record of raising significant funds.

• Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and campaign management.

• Experience working in community-based organizations, especially those focused on violence prevention, social justice, or public health, is a plus.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a team.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
